Why won’t my printer print in black?

I have recently replaced my black cartridge, and for whatever reason, my computer will not print in black. I thought it just wasn’t printing period – I just now tried to print in color, and that works just fine. It didn’t occur to me that the ink could be low because I just replaced it. But I did go to a Rapid Refill Ink store, and I wonder about that place, because if this ink is already gone, then I’m not going back to them again. I don’t print that much. Anyway, since I thought that my printer was crazy, I messed around with all the properties, trying to fix the problem. Could I have done anything that would explain this predicament? Please let me know if I could have. (I’m pretty sure that I’ve since returned it all to how it was.)

the answer would be do not under any circumstances get cartridges refilled!! the chip on the cartridges knows that they have run out therfore will stop printing,

buy compatible cartridges they are just as cheap if you look around,
