HP design jet 1050c plus print quality issues please help?

My HP1050C PLUS printer is not printing correctly. I have checked all ink cartridges are at 80% and printheads are all showing as “ok” apart from black whcih says “replace” intermuttnetly. The printhead that has least ink is yellow however this shows as “ok”.

I intermittently get an error message saying “printhead effecting print quality replace?”

When I do a test print all block colours are correct except..black, green and purple which all have banding. Also further up the test print where the flags are printed the blue and black are very faint and banding on these too. Shoudl I replace balck printehad or could there be an issue with the nozzles.?

As you will know, the HP plotters are different to normal HP inkjet printers in they have seperate ink tanks and print heads. It sounds like a print head problem to me. The ink tanks could be 100% brand new but if the print heads are spent then it’s probably time to replace them. The good thing with these plotters is that you don’t have to buy a whole new cartridge, you can just buy the bit that needs replacing, the down side though is that the printheads cost a fortune lol.
