can i just print in black and white?

I have seen this printer it comes with black ink and it says h22 introductory tri colour ink cartridge im only ever print in black and white so is there a way to choose print only in black i.e if i see a web page in colour and want to copy it but only in black and white how would i do this?
If you only ever want to use black get a laser printer that only uses black toner. That printer will still use colour ink even if you print only black. Printers use the ink as maintenance for the printer. It uses it for cleaning cycles and the like. They can also use colours to add to the black as not all blacks are black, black.
I did a document last week that was black text. The black font was made up of 13% of red, green and blue in with the black. This means that black was not black it had colour added to make it that shade of black. If you notice on a colour font menu there will be a scales of blacks on it not just one black. As you go up the scale it mixes colour in to make it the shade of black selected.
Even selecting grey scales on a colour printer will use colour.
If you never use colour don’t buy a printer that uses it as it will use anyway. If you do not believe me buy that printer and see in a month if your colour ink levels are as full as when new. I guarantee they will not be. In the long run it will be cheaper for you to buy a slightly more expensive laser printer than keep buying colour ink to put in that one.
In relation to the question of whether you can print a colour web page in black and white? the answer is yes. The printer will adjust the colours to shade of black to print any colour from a web page of any other source automatically, but again if its a colour printer it will still use the colour to mix in with the blacks.
This is an example of a mono (shades of black in this case) laser printer.
