What does “cardboard” mean for a printer?

my mom wants me to try and fix an ink cartridge jam, apparently, for her printer. she put in new ink and the printer cant do the alignment… it tells me to “take out the cardboard from the printer and then turn it off and on” … can anybody help me please, i would really appreciate it.. cause i always only knew cardboard as the material :/

It could be the cardboard materials that are placed in the printer to keep its mechanical parts from being shaken too much during transport.
