Are Epson Compatible ink cartridges the same as the originals?

Ive got 2 questions—I need to buy some black ink cartridges—All of the ink cartridges for my printer on ebay say they are Epson compatible, is this safe to buy, the genuine epson cartridges are so much more expensive (in the shop the are £16.00, just because there brand names, but i really want the right ink, the other question is my Printer is a C42 plus, does that mean i can only buy ink for a plus and not a basic C42, so basically will a epson c42 plus compatible ink work on my printer.

Epson originals are not the same as compatibles.
The original ink is better for the printer as it won’t clog the print head, however your printer is a cheap model and it will quite happily run for a couple of years on compatible ink before you get problems. The biggest is print head alignment going.
Also original ink is better quality and as for colour is more vibrant.
However I would recommend you buy compatibles as they are cheap, your printer is cheap, the money you save in ink will be enough to buy a new printer in 1-2 years.
