ink cartridges cheapest price
Am I too PICKEY or just plain CHEAP, shopping for printer-cartridges?

I feel TAKEN when I pay over $30.00 for a single ink cartridge!

How / where can I find a reasonable price for a few (maybe only 1 or even 2) black ink cartridges for my HP Deskjet printer?

WHY does it cost so much to buy only 1 cartridge vs. 2 or more (as a set)?

(Last time I forked over $30.00 for a single HP45 black ink cartridge vs. I could have bought a SET (black and color78) for $32.00

A single color78 costs $27.00 – alone.

How is each HP cartridge-price set? %:-o
I fight these OUTRAGEOUS prices at my local Wal Mart!

Hi Chas-
You are certainly not too picky unless you have just too much money. If that’s the case I have several proposals for you. If not and If you do a little homework you will see the big four giving away printers for a cost- point so they get you locked in to their ink. Plus I don’t agree with those who suggest getting a new printer every time. Seems kind of landfill unfriendly. Now without getting into a big deal you can pay Staples prices, cost plus god knows how many hundreds of percentage points or you can go after-market. Carefully, and I recommend Mozilla as your browser for this since lots of ink places are in fact data dumps, and IE will gleefully dump you onto a site which grabs your info before you know it and then you are wedded to some guy in Indonesia forever. Anyway do your homework. Figure out if it’s cheaper to do a bulk refill thing or buy individual carts. My Canon i9900s use 8 carts each. OEM they are $15-18 at Staples. I found a place where better ink filled to the top carts are $1.95!!! They are all over the place since an appeals court ruling made the refilling industry a gold mine. Love that it screwed the big four who are still not getting it and remain greed ridden. Anyway do your homework and best of luck. BTW I do have an HP 13×19″ printer. For years I was paying $50+ bucks for a three color cart (#78!!!) with only 19ccs. of ink. At the place I use now, (Meritline.com) that same cart is $17 for 60+ccs (amazing that that same cart holds that much more). Good luck. I am not affiliated in any way with MeritLine. And I am not at all sure you can’t get even better deals with other companies. As said do your homework.

One more thing. EVERYBODY who uses ink-jet technology should read this Wiki article. It will change your life and your wallet I promise.
