The ink in my printer is jamming the printer, what do I do?

I took my hp hp photosmart 1315 printer to Austin from Dallas to college, then found out I didn’t need it, so my parents came to took it back the same day. It stayed in my room for the next four months, so when I came back for break, the ink had come out of the cartridge, onto the fabric on the inside, in one big mess. It’s mostly gooey, but my question is, can i fix it, or is the printer ruined?

Get some rubbing alcohol, put some on a clean rag and clean the excess ink off as best as you can, and then give it a try,.
