hp ink cartridges drying out
I have just bought a colored a printer(has 2 cartridges). Can I use the printer as a black and white printer?

I have just bought an HP Deskject D1560 Printer yesterday.
I inserted both of its cartridges (the black and the colored one) and printed a couple of colored photos.
But as I don’t want to print much colored papers and mostly wanna use it as a black and white printer, I wondered if I can still take out the colored cartridge from my printer and to again put its original sticker on it and save it for a time that I wanna use colored prints. As I don’t want the ink of cartridges get dry. What do you recommend if you have any experience about this kind of printers.

You need to have the colour cartridge installed for the printer to work. Also placing the factory tape back on the cartridge will not prevent it from drying as once air gets at the print head the drying has began.

Also the tape will smear on the print head causing cross contamination of the colours.

If you have an option to print with black cartridge only in your print properties, that will be the way to go, otherwise no setting you have will allow you to print only in black (even greyscale printing uses colour)

To save on ink, print in draft mode. The Quality isn’t outstanding, however you will notice your cartridge go much further.
