Sharing a PC printer with a Mac/PC network?
I have purchased a wonderful HP LaserJet 1600 color laser printer, and I want to share it on all computers on the network.
Currently the two PCs can share the printer, but I don’t know if the Mac can because there is not a Mac driver.
Is there a way to use the printer with some sort of ‘generic’ driver from the Mac.
By the way, the cheap HP printers are worthless. This 1600 has humongous ink cartridges that make the cost-per-page affordable.
4.5 cents black and white (average)
8.0 cents for color (average)
According to CNET & HP, the 1600 won’t work with a Mac. They recommend the 2600n for that kind of mixed network.
