what is the best printer to cartridge price ratio?

I have an HP psc 1400 all in one printer. I love it except how often I have to replace the expensive friggen cartridges, which are $30 bucks for the color/black combo pack. Please help me find a printer that is not too expensive and has cheaper cartridges with a longer lifespan per cartridge.. If you can compare this printer to one you have or know of, let me know if it does really “guzzle” ink, or if that’s how they all are. The quality prints of these chepo wal mart printer are just fine. I’m not looking for perfection. Simply quality and value
