is a good printer with cheap ink better then a normal to cheap printer with really good ink?

A cheap printer with good ink, will still print crap if the print head isnt good.
- if the printer has low quality print heads, then for most text things it may be ok, some letters may be fuzzy, but if you wanted to do photos, they might come out really crap.
- Its like when you use a decent printer with good inks and print at high quality on crappy paper, the ink just runs all over as the paper is not good enough for photos. You need decent photo paper for high quality photo printer and posters etc, for just text or letters cheaper paper is ok.
- the best thing to do is try and find a printer that fits what you need it to do, if you only print text (like business letters etc), then you dont need to worry about photos and high quality, if you want to do it all and make cards, banners or photos to frame then you need something better.
- try and find a printer with separate cartridges, as then when one runs out, you only change that one colour.
- Kodak have just released a printer that the ink is good and its also cheap here in the UK, ive no idea what it prints like though as I have only seen the TV advert. So its probably out in other countries too.
- I also havent used my printer in over a year cos the ink was just too expensive having to pay 25.00pounds for black and 40 for colour (40 dollars and 65 dollars approx) it was just too much to keep using it. Ink is more expensive than Gold.
- a printer with separate inks might cost a little more depending on the manufacturer brand and company/store selling it, but if only your black runs out fast & only that needs replacing etc, then over time you save money that way.
- there are lots of companies that do refills, you can even buy 1 litre bottles & save that way, but that may void your printer warranty.
- you can also get some quite good all in one printer scanners for around 60.00 in the UK, so where ever you are, eg USA they are probably even cheaper equivelent as in the UK we get ripped off for electronic stuff like pcs, tvs etc.
- anyways decide what kind of things you really want to print, go to the shops and see if they allow you to test their printers or check prices online for the printer and its inks to see if you can find cheaper prices, also if you google the brand and model number and put review on the end, for example “epson 1234 review?” then it should hopefully bring up some reviews from professional testers and maybe home users who bought them too! So that will tell you if its good at printing, &if its fast, efficient etc and maybe even ways to save ink!
- i always found when i turned my printer on, it used ink to clean itself, and if i did 1 print, and then waited hours or rebooted or turned it off, each time after the next print/reboot etc it wld clean itself again and again, yet if i did 10 prints in one go it would only clean on power up and at the end, so saving ink.
